Looking for an Adult Autism Assessment?

I offer assessments virtually alongside therapy services to individuals seeking to explore an Autism Diagnosis. Assessments can be conducted as a standalone service or as a part of ongoing therapy services for established clients.

Autism assessments are conducted over several sessions and can be billed in the same manner as any other therapy services.

Recently, more of us have begun to discover that our “talented and gifted” nature as a child was actually highly masked neurodivergence.

Common struggles among neurodivergents include:

  • Anxiety, depression, and other co-occurring mood disorders

  • Communication challenges

  • Difficulties with emotional regulation

  • Executive functioning problems

  • Sensory processing issues

  • Social awkwardness

If you - or someone you love - are autistic, have ADHD, or otherwise feel like you’re working with a different operating system, there is nothing wrong with you/them.

Commonly Asked Questions about Adult Autism Assessments

How many appointments or how much time does an Autism Assessment take?

Generally, Autism assessments require 4-5 hours of appointment time and 2 hours of my time to review notes from our appointments, self-assessment results, and type up a diagnostic report.

These appointments can be scheduled in 6o-90 minute blocks to allow for assessments to be conducted in 3-5 sessions including an optional summary appointment after I send you my written diagnostic report.

Appointments are scheduled after the initial consultation and clients are responsible for adhering to any cancellation policies and expectations.

Most clients complete the assessment process within 30 days of the initial appointment and diagnostic reports are available within 10-14 days of the final appointment.

What types of tools are used in the Assessment process?

Autism Assessments by Unbroken Circles Therapy involve a combination of review of self-assessments and clinical interviews with Kimberly Louvin, LCSW.

During the clinical interview, the MIGDAS-2 assessment tool will be utilized to guide the conversation. Additionally, various other tools or assessments may be consulted to screen for any co-occurring diagnoses such as Generalized Anxiety, Depression, or other diagnoses that many late-diagnosed adults may experience.

If I can self-assess, why get a formal diagnosis?

For many late-diagnosed adults, a formal diagnosis is the gateway to self-exploration of discovering aspects of oneself that can be better explained with new understanding and awareness.

Until 2012, Autism and ADHD could not be diagnosed simultaneously in most cases and -therefore- many adults who are AuDHD (Autistic and ADHD) were misunderstood or unable to access the unique or custom supports and interventions available for our brains.
